Electricity – 'HFAC'  Papers

The HFAC network based on a sinusoidal 60V, 128kHz supply, a second better option for our first Islands of Light.

In fact, the proposal refers to a next and better stage of power distribution, related to the 48V DC proposed as the first nowadays option.

"Claimed benefits include low losses on the distribution path, even heat distribution throughout the cards shelf and good voltage regulation on the load side."

"In the case of HFAC power distribution, by contrast with the DC networks, the entire output portion of the power converter which includes rectifiers, post regulators and filters is distributed to the point of use."

"When a load short-circuit occurs and the primary and secondary windings of the transformer are coupled, the current drawn is low and limited by Ls and the saturation action of the transformer. This is an effective fuseless protection for the circuit."
