The Platinum Lamp

Subject: A supposed compact lamp, for esoteric purposes, using the Platinum as a light emitter.

Briefly, there is not easy to find a scientific proof for that of an electric discharge in platinum vapor to occur in convenient ways, like there are for gold and silver, thus in the scientific community there are 'rumors' that for the most of the elements of Mendeleev's table were conducted experiments of electrical discharge...

But luckily, there is however enough proof, coming from Edison's research, that an incandescent lamp using platinum filament is possible to be achieved. And, also luckily, the obstacles which prevented the achievement of an incandescent lamp using platinum filament are rather commercial than technical. So, for the case of interest for only a light coming from platinum, and no commercial or lm/w concerns, it can be brought out for esoteric purposes.

Take also in consideration that there are the single element hollow cathode lamps available, if you want to consider them, too. A list of commercially available lamps of this type might be this one:

Research needs to be conducted!
